A New Design and Embedded Implementation of a Low‐Cost Maximum Power Point Tracking Charge Controller for Stand‐Alone Photovoltaic Systems

This article presents a low‐cost maximum power point tracking (MPPT) charge controller designed to efficiently charge solar batteries using a simple and robust MPPT method, while providing protection against over‐currents and over‐voltages. The proposed MPPT approach utilizes a modified Incremental Conductance (INC) algorithm adapted to low‐cost embedded controllers, as it avoids all the mathematical division calculations typically used in the conventional INC algorithm. It also introduces a modified step size based only on photovoltaic (PV) power change to enhance tracking accuracy and convergence speed. Furthermore, to reduce the stress and switching losses of DC–DC converter, a feedback control with two proportional and integral (PI) compensators is also used to control both the PV voltage and to protect the battery from over‐currents using PV power limitation technique. A novel MPPT design based on the seagull optimization alg. rithm for photovoltaic systems operating under partial shading (vol 12, 21804, 2022)

The use of a maximum power point (MPP) tracking (MPPT) controller is required for photovoltaic (PV) systems to extract maximum power from PV panels. However, under partial shading conditions, the PV cells/panels do not receive uniform insolation due to several power maxima appear on the PV array's P-V characteristic, a global MPP (GMPP) and two or more local MPPs (LMPPs). In this scenerio, conventional MPPT methods, including pertub and observe (P&O) and incremental conductance (INC), fail to differentiate between a GMPP and a LMPP, as they converge on the MPP that makes contact first, which in most cases is one of the LMPPs. This results in considerable energy loss. A new MPPT design using arithmetic optimization algorithm for PV energy storage systems operating under partial shading conditions

Arithmetic optimization is a new metaheuristic algorithm that has shown great strength and good performance in handling and solving complex problems. In photovoltaic systems, and especially in the case of a partial shading condition, the power-voltage curve of the photovoltaic array exhibits multiple peaks of which only one is global, making the tracking of the global maximum power point more complex, and thus requiring a powerful metaheuristic maximum power point tracking algorithm. Comparison between autosar platforms with functional safety for automotive software architectures

In the next Vehicle generations, connected and highly developed driving cars will have an important impact on the networking architecture and the inter connection between ECUs (Electronic Control Unit). The automotive indus try begins to develop new and efficient strategies to improve the performance of the global system. AUTOSAR organization as part of this industry tries to present plenary solutions especially software architectures for new technol ogies in this field. Thus, in this chapter, we present the aspects of new E/E architectures with upcoming technologies. We discuss a new solution pre sented by AUTOSAR organization to implement new software requirements for next-generation cars. This solution aims to provide a safe environment for the features that require complex data processing and to communicate with AUTOSAR and non AUTOSAR Platforms. We summarize a comprehensive comparison between AUTOSAR adaptive and AUTOSAR classic in terms of functionality and application area. We provide functional Safety preliminar ies for the global E/E architectures.

Internet of vehicles: concept, process, security aspects and solutions

Internet of Vehicles (IoV) is a new concept, derived from combining VANET and Internet of Things (IoT), aiming at increasing road’ user safety and reducing the number of accidents. In IoV, different types of communication are possible, namely, vehicle-to-sensor, as the car is considered as a powerful multisensory object, vehicle-to-pedestrian i.e. sharing data between vehicle and people, and vehicle-to-cloud communication in which cloud data centers and vehicles are the main actors. Photovoltaic (PV) systems are gaining more and more visibility as the world power demand is increasing.
