Power transformer

A power transformer, including a core and a winding is provided. The core includes a limb and a yoke. The winding is wound around the limb and has an extension along a main axis of the limb. The power transformer further includes an energy harvesting device coupled to at least one of the core or the winding. The energy harvesting device includes a ferromagnetic part and a coil wound around at least a portion of the ferromagnetic part. The energy harvesting device is arranged in such a way that a part of a magnetic flux MF generated in the power transformer induces an electromotive force in the energy harvesting device. The coil includes a wire wound around a main axis of the coil and has an extension along the main axis of the coil.

Wireless transmissions through a transformer tank

The present disclosure relates to a transformer system comprising a power transformer including a metal tank filled with an electrically insulating liquid, and a wireless sensor arrangement submerged in the insulating liquid within the tank. The sensor arrangement includes a radio transmitter for wirelessly transmitting sensor readings to the outside of the transformer through an opening in the tank, said opening being provided with a liquid-tight seal comprising a solid insulator for preventing leakage from the tank of the insulating liquid and wherein the radio transmitter is configured for transmitting the sensor readings using a carrier frequency within the range of from 100 kHz to 1 MHz.

Real-time inspection and fault detection for large photovoltaic arrays based on drones and deep learning algorithms

In recent years, the installation of renewable energy generation systems based on photovoltaic (PV) panels has experienced massive increments and PV parks with thousands of panels are now becoming commonplace. Yet, there are some challenges, like inspection and fault detection. Lately, these operations have been approached using drones. This project adds the use of deep learning, more specifically proposes the convolutional neural network (CNN) algorithm, the YOLOv5 model and Real-Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) protocol to achieve real-time detection of PV panels failures. The YOLOv5 model was trained by sets sorted into 9 different categories including fault and abnormal objects' coverage. Shielding properties of welded and unwelded wire mesh enclosures

In this article, the shielding properties of wire mesh enclosures are studied, with emphasis on the importance of electrical contact between crossing wires. Experimental results are combined with numerical three-dimensional simulations to provide conclusions about the shielding effectiveness in a wide frequency range and how it depends on the contact conditions between crossing wires and between the wire mesh and a possible enclosure frame.
