Design, Realization and Measurements of Printed Patch Antenna with Circular Slots for UWB and IoT Applications

This paper presents the design, simulation and realization of a patch antenna for IOT applications. The patch antenna consists of a radiating element printed on one face of a dielectric substrate, when the ground plane is placed on the other face. In this work, two techniques are used to design a miniaturized patch antenna: the set-up of slots on the radiating element and the use of defective ground plane. Also, the slot’s radius and Length of inset point effects on the performances of the antenna is illustrated. All the simulated results are performed with FEKO, a solver based on a Moments Method and measurement is made using Vector Network Analyzer Anritsu MS2026C. The propose antenna resonates in three frequency bands 3.91, 4.86 and 5.16GHz for different characteristics such as radiation pattern, gain, return loss, which makes it suitable for many wireless communication applications such as IoT applications.

An overview on 5G mobile network antennas: Trends and Challenges

To deploy the 5G mobile network, operators must install tens of thousands of new antennas. They are one of the major technological developments of 5G. For 5G, as for all other generations of mobile networks, antennas are an essential support. They are the ones that relay and transmit the signal. Without antennas, there are no waves, and therefore no 5G network. In order for the new 5G mobile network to work, operators must deploy tens of thousands of new antennas. Indeed, 5G antennas are totally different from 4G antennas. And, they contain some of the major technological innovations of 5G, which give the new mobile network its uniqueness. They are called Massive Mimo, beamforming, Small cells [1]. Today, relay antennas, usually high points (towers in rural areas and building roofs in urban areas), work like a street lamp. Design of microstrip sierpinski carpet antenna using a circular pattern with improved performance

In this work, we present the two first iterations design of the Sierpinski carpet fractal antenna by using a circular pattern. The proposed antenna is printed on FR4 substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.4. At the second iteration, the studied antenna has a multiband behavior with four resonant frequencies: 3.92, 4.89, 6.61 and 7.22 GHz with a good impedance matching. The simulated results performed by CADFEKO a Method of Moments (MoM) based Solver and measurement using Vector Network Analyzer (VNA) Anritsu MS2026C are in good agreement.

The Spread of the Corona Virus Disease (Covid-19) and the Launch of 5G Technology in China: What Relationship

In this paper, we highlight the technology of the fifth generation of mobile communications (5G), its impact on human health and its association with the emergence of the Corona virus in China. We have found through this study, that this technology uses frequencies below 6 GHz used also in other previous generations of mobile networks and they do not lead to the emergence of dangerous diseases like cancer or the corona virus, like what some people claim, and it turned out that this virus comes from the pangolin, which transmitted the infection to humans in Wuhan, China, in late 2019.

Design and Simulation of a New Dual Band Fractal Antenna for TM Applications

In this paper, we present the three first iterations design of a new dual-band antenna based on U fractal geometry feeding by microstrip inset feed. The proposed antenna is printed on FR4 substrate with a dielectric constant of 4.4. At the third iteration, the studied antenna has a dual-band behavior with tow resonant frequencies: 2.25 and 3.29 GHz with a good impedance matching. The simulated results performed by CADFEKO a Method of Moments (MoM) based Solver. The antenna offers low profile, low coast and a very light weight which satisfy the requirement of MicroSat Telemetry (TM) applications.

The effect of using fractal techniques in the design of antennas

A fractal is a geometric figure with a complex structure, the creation of which involves rules using fractionation. The term “fractal” was created by Benoit Mandelbrot in 1974 from the latin word “fractus”, which means broken, irregular [1]. Fractal geometries are those that could not be defined using euclidean geometry such as trees, clouds, mountains, lightning, etc. Most of these phenomena are self-similar at different scales and the dimensions are fractional numbers [2] - [3]. In this work, a state of the art on antennas has been detailed. Indeed, most of the fractal geometries studied have been used for the design of miniaturized antennas with ultra-broadband and multi-band behaviour. It is also clear that some have been widely used such as the geometries of KOCH, SIERPINSKI, MINKOWSKI and Tree, other structures have been rarely used such as circular structures, CANTOR SET modified. Several studies have combined two fractal structures, others have modified the original fractal structures and other studies have implemented fractal slots in simple structures (rectangular, circular, etc.). The common point between all the works which treated the antennas with fractal structures is that this kind of antennas makes it possible to have an Ultra-Wide Band and / or Multi-band behaviour. It is also the most effective way to make antennas smaller while having better performance.

Design and Simulation of a Fractal Multiband Antenna Printed on a Circular Patch

In this paper, we studied and presented a new antenna design in which we used a circular patch fed by a coaxial cable and printed on a dielectric substrate FR4 of permittivity (r =4.4) and permeability (r =1), the obtained results show that the antenna resonates on several frequencies. Furthermore, to improve the performance of our antenna we added square slots in a fractal way. In the third iteration, the studied antenna has a multiband behavior with seven different resonant frequencies: 2.71, 3.98, 5.38, 6.41, 7.53, 8.68 and 9.58 GHz with a better fit than the basic antenna. Using our theoretical study on the antenna, we implemented it on the FEKO software to analyze and design the antennas to obtain their dimensions as well as the feeding location. and validated using The HFSS software was used to validate the final design.
